Xrays

Within the Ark Veterinary Practice we are able to offer non invasive procedures such as endoscopy and radiography.

These 2 facilities allow us to examine the internal structures of our patients in a non invasive manner. In nearly all cases it is necessary to administer a general anaesthetic in order to allow these procedures to be under taken.

Some pets have a predilection to eating strange objects such as stones and bones, these can be visualised on a radiograph easily and then can be removed by endoscopy or surgical means. Those animals which have been involved in road traffic incidents may have internal injuries (albeit rarely) and fractured limbs. These again can be diagnosed and then an effective and rapid method of repair can be planned and carried out and post operative radiographs can be performed too to ensure good reduction of bone fractures.

Radiographs can be taken of almost any part of the body, radiographs of rabbits skulls for example are used to examine for dental problems such as malocclusions of molars and abscesses. Diagnosis of heart and lung problems is also assisted by radiography and thus enables these conditions to be treated correctly and effectively.

Radiography is another aid to the diagnosis and effective and safe treatment of your beloved pets.
